Our animals are pastured year-round with an enhanced winter diet of organic home-grown Hay. This supports their best health and the Farm’s ecosystem.
We practice a regenerative approach to grazing rotation. We use temporary fencing within our perimeter fence to create smaller paddocks that are only grazed for a few days at which point our animals are rotated to a new paddock. This ensures a constant supply of fresh feed. As our herd moves through each paddock and pasture they leave behind vital nutrients that become packed into the soil by their hooves. This improves future tall grass growth, removes invasive species, and regenerates the strength of our topsoil, sequestering carbon emissions.
The Owners/Farmers are Connie Young and Ken Richards. We are a small operation and find great joy and satisfaction in working closely with the local farm community, neighbors helping neighbors. In addition to the rewards of managing the land, growing the feed and taking care of our animals, we are also lifelong believers in the importance of the healthful and delicious qualities of the food we eat. Our interest in becoming full-time farmers was in part to continue a family legacy, in part to protect and enhance farmland and habitat, and in part to produce Piedmontese Beef – the most succulent beef a steak-lover can consume. With help from our community we’ve found our niche and work the land with sustainability and conservation at the forefront.
